Ping G15 Hybrid Iron
The Ping G15 combines the best elements of both a wood and
an iron into a very easy to hit club with optimum forgiveness. Its iron-style
face design helps provide a very high moment of inertia which results in more
accurate shots, paired with greater distance. This Ping hybrid will replace
those hard to hit long-irons in your bag, and will become one of your favorite
clubs to reach for in many different playing situations. It is Ping’s most
forgiving and longest hitting hybrid to date. The G15 follows in the footsteps of the G10, but has several improvements and differences in its design that make it the superior club. The G15 is an iron style hybrid, while the G10 had the look and feel of a wood. The iron-style design and longer hosel on the G15 help to increase its accuracy while also reducing the amount dispersion across the club face when a ball is hit.
It is the iron-like weighting design of the G15 that helps
it achieve a very high level of forgiveness. It has an internal toe weight
which helps to keep the weight of the club near the toe, while also helping it
to extend towards the back of the club head. This expands the perimeter weight
of the club face resulting in a large sweet spot that adds to the G15’s
increased forgiveness and distance when taking difficult shots.

One of the main reasons that hybrids are so desirable is that their center of gravity is much lower in comparison to standard long irons, and the Ping G15’s design optimizes this feature. Its iron-style face design paired with its unique hosel placement help bring the center of gravity closer to the face of the club, while also keeping it farther back from the hosel. This results in what Ping refers to as “high launch technology”. The ball is launched at a higher trajectory with a lower amount of spin. Hitting a ball with a high launch trajectory can prove to be quite difficult when using a standard iron, which is why so many golfers are turning to hybrid irons, like the Ping G15.
The G15 is available in a variety of lofts, so you should have no problem finding a place for one of them in your bag. Available loft degrees are: 17,20,23,27 and 31.
Overall, I really enjoyed using the Ping G15 as I was testing it out. It had a great feel both in my hands, and during impact with the ball. The low center of gravity and high moment of inertia of the club made it very easy to hit the ball far with a great launch trajectory. The Ping G15 is a club that will provide optimum forgiveness with increased distance.
